This blog will be a vulnerable space in which I share with the world what it's like to be a young black actress/director/writer pursuing my dreams in the big city. It will be funny, it will be crazy, it will be honest...because that's who I am. Thank you so much for reading and my prayer is that this blog inspires you to be the best you!

Young Black Actresses in Hollywood
I was on Twitter and I saw a tweet, retweeted by Keke Palmer, that contained the trailer for her new movie A Trip to Bountiful starring Cicely Tyson, Vanessa Williams & Blair Underwood. The movie will be premiering on Lifetime March 8th. While I was watching, my heart was rejoicing for yet another triumph for Keke but it ached at the same time. Why, you ask? Because she is the only black actress in my age range (teens-early 20s) that I constantly see on my tv screen. I don't know the demographics of black actresses in Hollywood but of that percentage, how many can we say are under the age of 25? One? Keke Palmer is in every movie, on every tv show that calls for a young black female in her teens or early 20s. While she's a phenomenal actress, I don't think I our styles are the same. Why don't I see a black actress, in my age range, that I can identify with? While I honor her for paving the way, I shake my head at Hollywood for not giving other young black actresses a chance.
I have goals to make it in this industry at a young age not only so I can share my talent with the world, but also so the black girls coming up behind me can see that if I can dream and achieve, they can too.
Here's the trailer for A Trip to Bountiful! Make sure you support when it comes out on March 8th on Lifetime!
